• Tribal groups of warriors lived among them, and the Pagans had a profound belief in fate.
• In most cases, they were pagan, but when the Romans invaded Britain, they adopted Christianity.
• They were tribal people. Brits (Celtic) were the indigenous tribes.
• They used oral literature to convey their moral teachings and religious beliefs.
• They relished the intellectual and amusing difficulties of listening to one another and asking and guessing riddles.
• Life revolved around self-governing clans or ancestral groups.

The Romans conquered Britain in 430 CE:

I. They came across the Celtics, who are also known as native Britons.
II. The Romans constructed forts, villas, roads, and enormous structures.

III. They brought Christianity to the world.
IV. The Romans departed around 420 CE.

Additional Invaders:

The Angles and Saxons from Northern Germany, along with Jutes from Denmark, invaded England in 450 CE.

Germanic tribes were the name given to the Germanic tribes. b. Celtics, who were originally from England, were driven out by the Anglo-Saxons.

Values of Anglo-Saxon Culture: They feared loneliness and humiliation in their life and valued human interaction, family values, and a good story.
The Anglo-Saxons also valued soldiers' valiant deeds and craved wealth and power.
Viking raids started between 871 and 899 CE.
King Alfred the Great ruled England from 871 to 899 CE.
Rebuilt monasteries and established an education system.
Defeated Danes and drove them out of Wessex.
To stave off Viking invasions, the Anglo-Saxons united under a single monarch.
The Anglo-Saxons governed the South, while the Danes ruled the North.
