ENCOURAGING READING HABIT:
The nation’s reading culture has been dwindling for a long time. Young people in the present period claim that one reason for this is because books aren’t drawing readers as much as they once did. When today’s youth disregard reading literature that can be the foundation of their nation, economy, society, politics, and character, it hurts me.
As stated by William Somerset Maugham. "To acquire the habit of reading is to construct for yourself a refuge from almost all the miseries of life" Thus, create a library in your house. The habit of reading has greatly aided in knowledge development. However, playing with phones, sending endless SMS, and surfing the internet seem to be the norm in this day and age. Young people’s brains are occupied by TV and movies. We need to take the issue of how the younger generation can find time to read seriously. The practice of reading is rapidly disappearing as technology continues to take over people’s lives.
However, studies on Pakistan's financial issues reveal that the primary causes of the predicament are the country's weak economy, inflation, and low priority for education as well as rising book prices. In addition, I think it is impossible for a writer to defend and take notice of his literature when there is no tranquility at home. Another factor contributing to the drop, in my opinion, is a shift in lifestyle.
In addition, the fierce rivalry for jobs has made middle-class families feel even more secure and discouraged them from reading anything other than textbooks.
Misuse of the internet and technology should be prohibited in order to maintain a strong reading culture among young people. It's crucial that parents for teenagers forbid their kids from using cell phones. The government should establish town and city libraries in every village. In addition to textbooks, some general texts ought to be suggested and debated in schools, colleges, and universities.
